Lean Self-Assessment Instrument

Lean Healthcare Implementation Self-Assessment Instrument

In its first year, the Lean Action Research Learning Collaborative focused on developing a valid, reliable, and operationally manageable instrument that hospitals and clinics could use to examine their progress in implementing lean. The resulting 25-item self-assessment instrument is designed to incorporate responses from multiple staff members at a range of levels in the organization.

Responses are summarized into 5 subscales:

  1. Leadership
  2. Commitment
  3. Standard work
  4. Communication
  5. Use of a Daily Management System
